Caption:   Redwood City's first hose cart (1951). The Redwood City Volunteer Fire Department, formed in 1861, was the first non-profit organization in San Mateo County. In 1878, the department purchased a new hose cart, manufactured by the Ford & Hanna Co. on the East Coast.
