Caption:   Flight student Ralph Planteen standing next to his airplane (c.1917). Planteen took flight lessons at the Redwood City Airport. A quote on the back of the photograph from Will Parker reads: "A good student. I think from Minnesota. I left for the war before he graduated and I do not know what happened to him." Redwood City Airport was located near what is now Chestnut Street, between Veterans Blvd. and Broadway.
