Caption:   Railroad depot interior (1911). The first train came through Redwood City in 1863, when the San Francisco-San Jose Railroad Company established railroad service between San Francisco and Palo Alto. The SF-SJ Railroad was bought out by the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1868. Shown in this photograph are Southern Pacific employees at work inside the second depot in Redwood City. It was built in 1901 and was originally located on the east side of the tracks between Marshall and Winslow. In 1937, the depot building was remodeled and moved directly across the tracks to the west.
