| Caption: | Behrens Family home (c.1930). Ludwig P. Behrens was a founding member of the Bank of San Mateo County when it was established in Redwood City in 1890. He served as a bank officer and became bank president in 1918. He built a large home for his family just after the 1906 earthquake. The house was located at 1240 Jefferson Avenue, where the grocery store is now. Ludwig died in 1923, leaving a widow, a daughter, and a son, Louis, who also became an officer at the bank. After Mrs. Behrens' death in the early 1940's, the property was sold and the house demolished. | ||
