Caption: | Damage to the San Mateo County Courthouse (1906). Damage in Redwood City from the 1906 earthquake was worse for brick buildings than those constructed from wood. Although there was extensive damage in downtown, there were no deaths and only minor injuries. The third county courthouse building was completed in 1905, and had just been occupied prior to the earthquake. All but the dome were replaced with a new building, which was completed in 1910. The second courthourse building (right of photo) was also damaged and eventually torn down. | ||
