Caption:   Stagecoach with passengers at Redwood City depot (undated). Early pioneer Simon Knights started a stage line between Redwood City and Woodside in 1869. His office was located in the American Hotel on Main Street. The stages carried passengers, mail, and light cargo. The line later expanded its route over the mountains to Pescadro and La Honda. Shown in this photograph are stage passengers who have just arrived in Redwood City by train. The depot building was built in 1901.
