Caption:   Man sitting on Handley's Rock (c.1925). The subdivision in the foothills west of Redwood City is called Emerald Hills. A large yellow-sandstone rock, called Handley's Rock, overlooks a canyon in the area, and has always been a haven for climbers and adventurers. The rock is now part of a county park.
