Caption: | Hanson Family home (c.1915). William Hanson was born in Redwood City in 1861, the only son of Charles Hanson, who founded the Tacoma Mill Lumber Company. William eventually took over the business, and built a large home for his family on Arguello Street. When he died in 1916, the estate was valued at $1,000,000. The dwelling was used as a convent for the nuns of the Sister of Notre Dame until it was torn down in 1949. | ||
