Caption:   Redwood City city hall building (c.1950). The first city hall building was expanded in 1939 as part of a Works Progress Administration project. A large addition was built on to the north and the entire building was then encased in cement, covering the brick of the original building. The front entrance was moved to the new addition, off the patio area. The building was located on Middlefield Road between Main and Jefferson Streets. The building was torn down in 1995 and a new city hall building was constructed on the same site.
