Caption: | Corner of Broadway and Jefferson Avenue (1946). The Carnegie Library building, located at the corner of Broadway and Jefferson Avenue, was built in 1905 with a $10,000 grant from the Carnegie Foundation. The building was partially destroyed by the 1906 earthquake, but the Carnegie Foundation gave Redwood City another $6,000 to rebuild the library. The building was used as a library until 1939. During World War II, the building was used by the Red Cross. The building was torn down in 1948. The Police Department building is at left of the photograph and Sequoia High School is at right. | ||
