Caption:   Redwood City's first city hall (c. 1920). Redwood City's first official city hall building was finished in 1912. The building had an exterior of rustic brick with terra cotta trim and a painted tin roof. The interior, decorated in imitation Spanish walnut, had electric lights and a fireproof vault. The town council held its first meeting in the assembly hall on the second floor on February 5, 1912. The building was located on Middlefield Road (then called Phelps Street) between Main and Jefferson Streets.
