Caption: | Beeger Tannery drying sheds (c.1920). Henry Beeger bought a small Redwood City tannery in 1880 and in ten years, expanded the business from three to 20 employees. Beeger bought an entire block and built a two-story building to be used for a leather-drying area. In 1903, the company built a three-story addition and a currying shop. Henry Beeger, Jr. closed the tannery upon his retirement in 1947. Beeger Tannery was located on the site of the present-day Towne Ford dealership. | ||
