Caption:   Frank Tanning Company fire (1968). A fire engulfed the vacant building of Frank's Tannery on the night of June 14, 1968. Frank's began operations on Redwood Creek in 1873 and closed for business in 1959. The tannery complex was located on the site of the present-day Mervyn's Plaza. This photograph was taken by Reginald McGovern.
