Caption: | Aerial view of Ohio Building (1947). Built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition in San Francisco, the Ohio Building was a replica of the Ohio state capitol. After the Exposition, the building was floated down the Bay on a barge and erected on the Steinburger Slough - near what is now Redwood Shores - to be used as a country club. The building was used as a speak-easy during Prohibition and for manufacturing radar during World War II. In 1956, it was burned to the ground as part of a training program for local fire departments. | ||
