Caption: | First Congregational Church exterior (c.1915). The original First Congregational Church building was dedicated in 1864 in the Diller's Island area of Redwood City. The building measured 30 feet by 50 feet. The church originally faced Webster Street (now Middlefield Road), but in 1872, the building was remolded and turned to face East Jefferson Street (now Jefferson Avenue). 18 feet was added to the main church building, as well as a tower and spire. The building in this photograph was torn down in 1922 and replaced by a new church building. | ||
