Caption: | Oxen team pulling logs at Dudfield Mill (1900). Oxen provided the crucial transportation link between the timber sites in the hills and the Redwood City port, via routes that followed the present-day Whipple Avenue and Woodside Road. The lumber was then loaded onto ships and transported to other ports around the world. Shown in this photograph are lumbermen Frank Weeks (with whip) and Walter Ray, guiding an oxen team down a skid road from Dudfield Mill (present-day Loma Mar). | ||
