Caption: | Entrance to Wellesley Park subdivision (1888). Wellesley Park was the first subdivision located west of El Camino in Redwood City. The exclusive development of 153 lots was developed by the Wellesley Land and Improvement Company, and was bounded by Edgewood Road, El Camino, Arlington Road, and Hudson Street. An advertising brochure written in 1889 describes the large stone gates at Wellesley Crescent, the circular street at the east entrace of the subdivision. Shown in this photograph are two men standing on top of the gates. | ||
