Caption: | Two men and statue of lion in Wellesley Park (c.1920). Wellesley Park was the first subdivision located west of El Camino in Redwood City. The exclusive development of 153 lots was developed by the Wellesley Land and Improvement Company, and was bounded by Edgewood Road, El Camino, Arlington Road, and Hudson Street. Shown in this photograph are two men next to one of the abyssinian lion statues that were placed at Wellesley Crescent, the circular street at the east entrace of the subdivision, in 1889. The pair of lion statues are still standing in Wellesley Crescent Park today. | ||
