Caption:   Crowd of people outside the Whitcomb & Smith Realty building (1928). Julius Smith opened a real estate office in Redwood City in 1924. His partner was his father-in-law, Jerrold Whitcomb. During the late 1920's, the company specialized in business property deals. In 1927, Smith was elected president of the Redwood City Board of Realtors, just as the latter was adopting the multiple-listing system. After 1930, the firm engaged in sales of pre-existing homes in the area.
