Caption:   Decoration Day celebration at Union Cemetery (c.1900). Union Cemetery was founded in 1859 on Woodside Road in Redwood City. Burial rights were sold for single plots, family plots, and members of various fraternal organizations. The largest plot was owned by the local chapter of the Grand Army of the Republic. The 6.4 acre site contains over 2,000 burials, the last of which took place in 1963. The cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This photograph was taken by James Van Court.
