Caption:   Memorial Day ceremony at Union Cemetery (1958). Union Cemetery was founded in 1859 on Woodside Road in Redwood City. Burial rights were sold for single plots, family plots, and members of various fraternal organizations. Soldiers in this photograph are standing at attention behind graves in the Grand Army of the Republic plot. The 6.4 acre site contains over 2,000 burials, the last of which took place in 1963. The cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
