Caption: | Redwood City Grammar School classroom - teacher (1899). Redwood City Grammar School opened in 1895, and was located on Broadway across the street from the county courthouse. The first two floors housed over 300 elementary school students, and Sequoia High School students occupied the third floor. Shown here is teacher Roy Cloud in his first teaching job. He took over the class after his sister, Nell Cloud, died of tuberculosis earlier in the year. Cloud eventually became San Mateo County Superintendent of Schools. | ||
