Caption: | Gus Jamison at the controls of an airplane on Redwood City field (1916). The airport was started in early 1916 by aviator Silas Christofferson. A quotation on the back of the photograph by aviator Will Parker reads: " The '75'; every student finally flew in this machine to take his license test before Guy Slaughton; Frank Bryant usually gave them their first ride in this when they entered school; engine was a Molde O-75 Curtiss, forerunner of the OX5". Redwood City Airport was located near what is now Chestnut Street, between Veterans Blvd. and Broadway. | ||
