Caption:   Golden Gate Produce Terminal. Building under construction for wholesale produce plant, West of Bayshore Freeway. 1962 to present. Moved from formerly occupied quarters in old San Francisco area when produce merchants faced eviction from San Francisco quarters which were to be demolished for the Golden Gateway project and chose not to relocate to San Francisco backed location at Islais Creek. Instead the merchants formed and privately financed the Golden Gate Produce Terminal to build a new market on 16 acres with more acres available for future expansion.
