Caption:   Golden Gate Produce Terminal. 1962 to present. Open House dedication, November 26, 1962. More than 10,000 people visited the $4.5 million center on a 16-acre tract near the Bayshore Freeway. Present were: Louis Poletti, Developer; William Harr, Builder; Joe Carcione, President of the Terminal; Louis Chess, Chairman of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors. The Terminal opened for business on Monday, November 26, 1962. Its fourteen merchants formerly occupied quarters in the old San Francisco Produce area that was demolished for the redevelopment of the area for the Gateway Project in San Francisco.
