Caption: | Natural gas tanks (c.1910). A power plant owned and operated by the United Gas & Electric Company was built on Redwood Creek (near where Bradford Street is now) in 1902. The plant included a floating gas tank, water tank, and electrical generator. Shown in this photograph are several high pressure gas tanks which were later installed at the plant. United Gas & Electric was eventually renamed California Gas & Electric Corp. The Redwood City Grammar School building on Broadway can be seen in the background at center. | ||
