Caption:   Coast Guard Base, 1954. Aerial view of the South San Francisco air station where 140 men were stationed. All but one of the Base's assorted planes are shown. Lined up along water's edge are (from bottom): two-motored Beechcraft; two B-17 Search and Rescue planes; Twin-engine PBT Seaplane; A DC-4 Personnel Transport and another PBY Seaplane. At lower right is a helicopter and a twin-engine Grauman Amphibian. Twenty-six of the 30 officers at the Station were pilots.
