Caption:   Lumbermen in front of steam schooner Rival (c.1880). Before the turn of the century, lumbermen also doubled as longshoremen when they arrived with wagons of lumber at the Redwood City port. Shown in this photograph are employees of the Hanson-Ackerson Lumber Company of Redwood City loading the steam schooner Rival with a load of rough-cut planks.
