Caption:   Eureka Brewery brick building (c.1895). The Eureka Brewery was founded in 1869 by George Plump and J.H. Offerman. It was originally located on the corner of Main and Broadway, where the Sequoia Hotel now stands. Claus Hadler bought the business in 1873. The corner soon became known as Eureka Corner, and included a vegetable market and dry goods store, as well as the brewery. Hadler eventually built a larger brewery building farther down Main Street. He sold the brewery to Frederick Haussler in 1899, and the business closed after a fire in 1904. This photograph was taken by James Van Court.
