Caption: | Oxen team near Hanson's Mill (c.1880). Oxen provided the crucial transportation link between the timber sites in the hills and the Redwood City port, via routes that followed the present-day Whipple Avenue and Woodside Road. The lumber was then loaded onto ships and transported to other ports around the world. Shown in this photograph are lumbermen guiding an oxen team down a skid road from Hanson's Mill in Woodside. | ||
