Caption:   Chamberlain's General Store interior (1908). John V. Diller built a one-story brick building on Main Street in 1859 to house his general store. The rear entrance of the building faced Redwood Creek. P.P. Chamberlain, the second owner of the store, was the San Mateo County treasurer from 1882 to 1926. From 1875 to 1911, the building also housed the Wells Fargo Express Office. Chamberlain is shown in this photograph inside the store. The building is Redwood City's oldest surviving commercial structure, located at 726 Main Street.
